Cue Card girl gets a promotion!

Yesterday I completed my challenge from Jesse to be a cue card girl on the set of the new PSA for the Acadiana Center for the Arts.

me working hard as a cue card girl for Francis Pavy (artist)

It was shot in the most wonderful old warehouse, derilict with echoes of previoius exsitances (and current ones), the light was incredible. My job as cue card girl involved writing the cue cards (I do have annoyingly neat handwriting) and holding them up for the ‘talent’.

The ‘talent’ was made up of people in the area who were pretty cool – I can’t reveal the list until the tv commercial is out.

It was a fun shoot, took me back to my days as an art director for packaging shoots when I was a graphic designer. Hurry up and wait.

A beautiful young girl whose sister was being filmed spoke to me, she told me I looked just like her new Liv doll – we took a photo together! It made my day. I may have to go and find a Liv doll and make her a little BE YOU shirt!

At 2.00 pm we realized our last ‘talent’ of the day wasn’t go to show up – and a decision had to be made… of course – use the English woman. So there I was, no fresh make up since 8am, old jeans, strange (But sensible) shoes, not in business attire at all – being shot for a tv commercial. How does this stuff happen to me? Of course I wish I’d had time to change, make up in the car, and had already lost the 45lbs I am on my way to loosing – but sometimes you just have to step up. So I got promoted from cue card girl to “reserve-stand-in (we are really desperate) talent”. I will share the results when I see them. However embarassing!

me and the Liv doll - twins? LOL

The Acadiana Center for the Arts does some amazing things that I had no idea about until yesterday. It helps a lot of children as well as artists. If you are in the Lafayette area and have a creative heart you should really consider joining.

This filming is serious business

Photos are by Gwen Aucoin – the same wonderful photographer who took my cow pictures. Purely co-incidence. Gwen is now my (unofficial) official photographer – you can’t do much better than that!

The AcA only hired me to shoot the commercial stills because of the photos in my fabulous “cow milking” portfolio, dear.

I love the cue card girl photo. Who took that? Great job on the cues by the way.

John. Ooooh thanks for pointing that out. The first photo (the one with me holding the cue cards) was taken by John Gerdsen, a fine young man who visited the set and was amazingly helpful – well, provided great comedy value! sorry for my error.

Ha. Pleasure meeting you Aileen. I’m sure I will see you again soon. I’ll bump up the comedy this time.
